The signing of the joint venture agreement took place in Rotterdam in the Netherlands last week, a source from SNP said on Wednesday.
Tan Cang-STC Human Resources Development Co., Ltd. is expected to be operational next year, with its main training center to be located at Cat Lai Terminal in HCMC's District 2, according to the SNP source.
The center will equip trainees with knowledge of all aspects of the transport chain, including modern ports and logistics.
The company will supply human resources and training services to the growing port and logistics infrastructure developments in the country. The country now has increasing demand for professional people working in the port and port related industries and logistics activities, including hinterland transport and multi-modal transport.
According to SNP, this is a unique project because a commercially-operating port education and training center in accordance with international standards has not yet been established in Vietnam.
Tan Cang-STC has total charter capital of around 700,000 euro, which is equally held by SNP and STC BV, a subsidiary of the STC-Group.
The Dutch government has provided a subsidy of about 700,000 euro for the 30-year joint venture.
The investment program by the Dutch Government aims to stimulate sustainable economic growth in developing economies by supporting innovative investment projects for Dutch companies working with local companies in these markets.
