In the recent time, the application of TOPX to the discharging activities at Terminal A and to some voyages at Terminal B has brought the significant efficiencies to the handling productivity. In the week 32, Cat Lai handled 32 vessels with the berth waiting time of only 1.5 h/vessel. The vessels keeping the right arrival registered schedule did not have to wait for berths. Net productivity was 44.2 moves/vh and port-stay productivity was 38.7 moves/vh, and increase of 10.8% comparing to the last week’s productivity. The maximum productivity was 63.7 ctn/ vh with PASY N-002 E.
The amount of the long-staying inbound laden reefer containers caused the pressure on the dropping off the outbound laden reefer containers. Beside the investment in increasing the electric power supply and the number of reefer plugs at Cat Lai and Tan Cang, Saigon Newport has also moved the laden reefer containers staying for more than 15 days from Cat Lai to ICDs. In the week 32, the first 22 reefer laden were transported to Tanamexco & Phuc Long ICD. Since 12 August 2008, the reefer containers at Cat Lai port can be moved to Tan Cang and this will make considerable contribution to easing the tense situation of reefer CY.
The fact that the handling productivity is improving and the delivery/receipt time is shortening days after days has demonstrated the constant effort of the SNP’s Board of Directors and staffs for better service quality.
