Currently, Tan Cang - Cat Lai terminal has 7 berths with a total length of 1.2 km and 100 hectares of yard. In order to continue to improve the quality of services to meet the needs of berthing window as well as the upsizing the vessels to Cat Lai, SNP has invested a new berth with the length of 224m and expanded 22 hectares of the yard including 15 hectares of container yard near the berth and 7 hectares of the depot in the surrounding area. On May 27th 2013, Tan Cang – Cat Lai terminal has received the Government permit to allow the new berth to accommodate 40,000 DWT vessel. Currently , the berth has been in the completion stage and to be put into operation in July/2013. The new berth will be equipped with two mobile quayside cranes.
From July 2013, Tan Cang - Cat Lai terminal will have a total area of 122 ha and 8 berths with a total length of over 1.4 km, equipped with 20 modern Panamax quay cranes and 26 RTG 6 +1, 185 tractors. Tan Cang- Cat Lai will be able to receive the new services as well as to meet the needs of shipping lines to deploy bigger vessels to port. The investment will expand the capacity of Cat Lai up to 4.2 million TEU / year. Tan Cang-Cat Lai Terminal will always be the biggest and most modern terminal in with top quality service, and be number 1 in the choice of the shipping lines upon deploying the new services in the South of Vietnam.
