Tan Cang - Cat Lai container terminal continues continued to be a leader with the export and import throughput reaching over 1.585.000 TEUs. The volume of Tan Cang- Cat Lsai terminal has accounted for over 84% market share of import & export containers, achieved 9.37% growth rate.
The major export cargo through port such as textiles, footwear, timber and wood products; seafood; coffee and rice had well – growth in the first 6 months, from 9 – to over 20% depending on product types. The imported commodities such as steel and plastics slightly increased to 2-3%, paper imports increased by 12%, and animal feed has reduced.
Especially, the container rice export through Tan Cang Cat Lai terminal made very impressive growth rate that achieved 113% over the same period in 2012. In 2012, SNP has deployed many rice-stuffing facilities to meet the sharply increasing demands for rice stuffing of customers in the peak export season. The rice-stuffing facilities of SNP include Tan Cang Terminal, Tan Cang – Cat Lai Terminal, Tan Cang – Sa Dec Terminal (Dong Thap), Tan Cang – Nhon Trach (Dong Nai) and TCCT (Ba Ria-Vung Tau) with total capacity of rice-stuffing up to 400-450 cont / day.
Saigon Newport Corporation has made the utmost prerequisite in term of improving the service quality of five main topics according to the plan proposed at the beginning of 2012. In the first 7 months, all departments and subsidiaries of SNP have performed well in reaching their targets set out in the “Plan of improving the service quality”, most notably works were the improvement in the handling productivity, logically berth arrangement to increase the operational rate, M & R management & operation at the SNP’s depots, the development of the new services as well as the enhancement of the logistic network to connect all the SNP’s premises.
Tan Cang – Cai Lai Terminal, Tan Cang – 189 and Tan Cang Cai Mep International Terminal (TCIT) had made good arrangement to receive the new services of the shipping lines which are focussing toward creating the most convenience, time 7 cost saving for customers and shipping lines .
