On 19/04/2011, Saigon Newport Corporation (SNP) solemnly held the meeting between Executive Board of Vietnam Ports Association (VPA) and Port Group No. 5. Attending the meeting were Mr. Nguyen Thu – VPA Vice Chairman, Mr. Ho Kim Lan – VPA General Secretary, 18 representatives from ports in Port Group No. 5, and 05 guests from Da Nang Port, Quy Nhon Port, Hai Phong Port, Quang Ninh Port and Can Tho Port.
The meeting is the preparation for VPA’s annual conference to be organized in September 2011 at Ben Nghe Port – Ho Chi Minh City. At the meeting, Mr. Ho Kim Lan, on behalf of the Secretary Board, made a report on the following issues: the implementation of VPA’s VII congress resolution, the cargo throughput at the VPA member ports in 2010, IT application in port operations, and the establishment of port code and commodity code complied with international standards. In addition, the report also suggested PR broadcasting via means of mass media to enhance Vietnam ports’ image, tight quality control in ports, restrict internal competition as well as ensure environment in ports. Representatives of SNP and Ports were together to discuss some issues to propose to the Central Authority.
At the meeting, VPA also praised SNP for their achievements, especially in applying of state-of-the-art IT software named TOPX in operations at Tan Cang – Cat Lai Terminal and Tan Cang – Cai Mep Terminals. On behalf of VPA offered the souvenirs to the representatives from member ports. After the meeting at SNP head office, the delegation took a tour to Port Group No. 5 members: Tan Cang – Cat Lai Terminal, Dong Nai Petrolimex, SPCT, Tan Cang – Cai Mep Terminals, Inter Flour, SP-PSA and Phu My Terminal. Working week between VPA Executive Board and Ports Group No5 ended on April 22, 2011.
