FRANCE's largest carrier CMA CGM, the world's third largest carrier, has announced a series of freight rate increases, to take effect from August to October with big jumps in the refrigerated sector.
From August 11, rates for cargo from west Mediterranean (Algeciras, Naples, Genoa, Livorno, Marseille-Fos, Barcelona and Valencia) to west coast of South America (Chile, Peru and Ecuador) will increase EUR300 (US$371.81) per TEU.
From August 15, rates for refrigerated cargo from Asia to Europe and Mediterranean, including north Africa and Black Sea region, will be up US$400 per TEU and $800 per 40-foot reefer high cube (RH) box.
From September 15, rates for shipments from North Europe (Baltic, Scandinavian, UK/Ireland, Continental, Atlantic Spanish and Portuguese ports) to west coast of South America will increase EUR300 per TEU, EUR600 per FEU and 40-foot high cube.
From October 1, rates for refrigerated cargo from the US to Asia will go up $711 per reefer TEU and $1,000 per 40-foot reefer high cube.
Additionally, adjusted new freight rates for citrus and protein cargo for services from the US to Asia will be as follows:
In regard to citrus cargo, the rates from US west coast to Hong Kong will be $3,600 per 40-foot reefer high cube and a destination THC box. For citrus cargo from US west coast to China, the rates will be $3,900 per 40-foot RH box.
Concerning protein cargo, the rates from US east coast to Hong Kong will be $3,500 per 40-foot reefer high cube and destination THC boxes, while from US east coast to China will be $3,800 per 40-foot reefer high cube.
